Liverpool developer Promenade Estates has sold its Liverpool city centre car park operation to the international parking company Q-Park.
Q-Park is an independent international parking company which operates throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.
The award-winning company has acquired the car park for an undisclosed amount from owner and operator Promenade Estates.
As one of the leading property firms in Liverpool, Promenade Estates is responsible for developing and managing numerous commercial developments, including Queen Square in the St George’s Quarter of Liverpool and Marine Point in New Brighton, Wirral.
Queen Square is a popular leisure destination, boasting some of the best pubs and restaurants in Liverpool, and is only a stone’s throw away from the city’s top cultural attractions, including Liverpool Empire Theatre, The Royal Court Theatre, World Museum Liverpool, Central Library, St George’s Hall and the Walker Art Gallery.
This year has been period of substantial growth for Queen Square; earlier this year work began on the regeneration of the old Rat and Parrot building to make way for new retail units and restaurants, including the recently opened burger joint Five Guys.
Due to its prime location, Queen Square car park is an attractive choice for visitors and tourists to the city. The car park caters for 601 cars, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and benefits from excellent partnerships with local theatres and restaurants.
After the acquisition this safe and secure parking facility will be further improved with Q-Park planning an investment of over £750,000 to improve the customer parking experience even further. In addition to the physical changes in the car park, customers will be able to pre-book parking in advance either online or via the new mobile app, Q-Park Rewards. The award winning application combines parking, navigation and retailer discounts all in one place!
Daniel Hynd, director of Promenade Estates, says: “We are delighted to welcome Q-Park to the Queen Square estate. Q-Park is a brand renowned for its unparalleled quality and outstanding customer service, so this partnership is fantastic news for Queen Square as we continue to expand and add new names to our offerings.”
“The Queen Square car park is a thriving operation due to its location and proximity to so many of Liverpool’s attractions. It’s great to have such a successful, robust operation on board to continue its success and secure long-term opportunities for the car park.”
Adam Bidder, Managing Director of Q-Park, commented: “Since arriving in the UK in 2001, Liverpool has always been a very important city to Q-Park. This is why we are so thrilled to be the new owners of Queen Square car park and join this very popular development. It complements our portfolio perfectly within the city which means wherever you are in the city you will not be far away from quality parking with Q-Park.”
The funds acquired from the sale will allow Promenade Estates to actively seek new investment opportunities in the North West to add to the company’s growing portfolio.
